Our Community
At Marymount we are an active participant in the local community. We also believe strongly that our residents are an integral part of the community.
A significant number of our residents, past and present, have strong links with the local area either directly or through their families. The vast majority of our over 180 staff currently reside in our locality.
We have long established formal partnerships with local hospitals and HSE Community Care and medical practitioners in the provision of an integrated approach to care to the older person in our community.
These include an onsite outreach service provided by Community Liaison Teams from Connolly hospital as well as mental health services from Tallaght and St Francis Hospice.
We have excellent partnerships with local General Practitioners as well as a multi-disciplinary team who provide services at Marymount including Physiotherapy, chiropody, dental, optical, OT assessments and pastoral care which is very important.
Through these integrated links with local health providers and practitioners, we continue to care for our residents to the end of life believing that the transfer to acute hospital care is where necessary and appropriate only in keeping with the wishes of the Resident and their families along with the clinical team.
In our Education centre, we have established a Dementia Care network for the community, and delivery of on-site education and support evenings monthly in our purpose-built Education Centre. These programs are provided at no cost to the community.
We also support local colleges and schools through the facilitation of work placements to FETAC level 5 students on Nursing Care programs. We also have a formal work experience programs with local schools for transition year students.
